About Us

The Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1950 to provide fire protection to the citizens of Deer Park and now provides a full range of emergency services from fire protection to emergency medical care. We pride ourselves on the quality of training we receive and provide to new members and the community. Our members receive training from schools all over the state of Texas, TEEX and the National Fire Academy that allows us to provide professional emergency services to our city. Each member graduates a training academy with no less than 80 hours of training approved by the State Fireman and Fire Marshal's Association (SFFMA) prior to responding to calls of service. Our training is provided by SFFMA certified members and is conducted at our Don H. Davis Training Facility, located here in this city. This training ensures our department is capable of meeting the challenges we face on a daily basis to protect our community.

We are fortunate for the equipment we are provided by our community and city management. Up to date fire apparatus and ambulances allows this the department the ability to respond safely and quickly to the needs of our community. Our fleet consists of 1 pumper, 2 combination rescue-pumpers, two ladder trucks, 1 heavy rescue, 2 brush trucks, and 4 ambulances. Five additional first responder vehicles are available to provide initial response. Our service is 17 square miles, including the industrial district area of Deer Park. Fire fighters and EMS providers staff 3 stations located throughout the city which allows us the flexibility to respond quickly and effectively to any type of emergency call we receive.

The annual response to emergency calls is approaching 3000. EMS responders include 18 full-time Paramedics, including 2 full-time Captains, 6 part-time paramedics and 28 volunteer medics ranging in certification from Emergency Medical Technician to Paramedic. An additional 70 fire fighters make up the remaining membership of the department and staff the fire and rescue apparatus based on call needs. The City of Deer Park is one of the most active government agencies in emergency planning and this department plays a key role in our success.

Our department is a very progressive organization. We are compliant with the Department of Homeland Security requirements for incident management systems and require all of our personnel to obtain this training prior to entering the department. Our members are active with the State Firemen and Fire Marshal's Association and are represented on the state board.
The Fire Prevention Bureau provides fire prevention education to over 3,500 elementary students annually and additional programs are provided to daycare centers, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts throughout the year.

We are also active in meeting other needs in our community through programs like our annual Gift of Christmas assistance program. Through this program we are able to assist over 100 families each year that otherwise would not have Christmas due to financial hardship. Additionally, this program provides assistance to the Deer Park Food Bank, Girls and Boys Harbor, and other family assistance organizations through the Deer Park Independent School District. In coordination with DPISD, we also participate in the Shattered Dreams program to increase drug and alcohol prevention awareness to teenagers in our community.
